‘Mike Sonko’ Cons a School Bursar his hard earned cash

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has found himself in yet another akward situation after a school bursar was conned money by his imposter.

The Kangaru Girls High School bursar, Mr Enos Njeru, is said to have sent  Sh5,600 to one Michael Kioko after being in contact with him claiming to be Sonko’s aide.

Njeru said the the money he sent via M-Pesa was to process a logbook of a motorcycle handed out to the school by the Senator.

The busar also noted that he was convinced that everything was legit after the M-Pesa transaction showed that Michael Kioko had received the cash and the name almost resembled that of the Nairobi Senator (Gideon Mbuvi Kioko Mike Sonko).

Later he was asked by the alleged Senator’s aide to top up Sh7,850 to process the insurance fee for the motorbike, a suggestion that made him raise an eyebrow.

“He told me that the ‘Senator’ had paid Sh5,000 for the insurance and I was supposed to pay a balance of Sh7,850 to show my commitment,” Mr Njeru was quoted by the Nation.

“I immediately received a message informing me that I was the lucky winner of a brand new motorcycle. We have been friends for long and all this time I’ve been thinking it is the Senator. I posted on his inbox, giving him my phone number and name and asked him to call me,” he said.

Embu police have now launched an investigation into the matter.
