Former Nigeria Vice-President Abubakar Atiku as well as Super Eagles stars Elderson Echiejile and Ogenyi Onazi have joined in mourning the shocking death of Shuaibu Amodu.

The former National Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation complained of chest pains on Friday night, and did not wake upon Saturday.

Echiejile told Completesportsnigeria.com exclusively that he was with the former BCC of Lions coach in Benin City on Friday and received advice on how he could be better as a player.

"It's terrible news and I'm still shocked. I saw him and in his usual self advised me a lot," Echiejile told Completesportsnigeria.com.

Echiejile also tweeted: "Another big loss! This is shocking, I can't believe it. He was a disciplinarian, father & a mentor. #RIPAmodu."

Former Nigeria Vice-Prevident Abubakar Atikuo also took to his Twitter handle to mourn with the Nigerian Football Federation who suffered two untimely deaths in three days.

"It is shocking that Amodu Shaibu, 4-time Super Eagles coach & NFF Technical Director, has passed on just a few days after Stephen Keshi did," Atiku wrote.

"I commiserate with his family, friends and the Nigerian Football Federation. May his soul rest in peace."

Onazi Ogenyi also regarded the outgoing week as a frustrating one with the deaths of the fallen heroes.

He wrote: "Rest in peace sir, frustrating and sad week for us. Lord have mercy."

Amodu who is expected to be buried according to Muslim rites in Edo State later today, first took charge of the Super Eagles at the age of 36, following the departure of Dutchman Clemens Westerhorf as Nigeria left their debut appearance at the FIFA World Cup in the USA in 1994 at the Round of 16.
