Arsenal And Real Madrid Reportedly Vying For Signature Of Celtic Wonderkid Moussa Dembele

Pinned onto EntertainmentMicheal Steele / Getty ImagesArsenal and Real Madrid are set to battle it out for the signature of Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, according to the Sun. The Gunners and Los Blancos also face competition from Bayern Munich to snap up the 20-year-old. Arsenal sent scouts to watch Dembele as he bagged a brace in Tuesday’s pulsating 3-3 Champions League draw against Manchester City at Celtic Park, and the French wonderkid will no doubt have left those representatives impressed by his all-round performance against Pep Guardiola’s men. Arsene Wenger was reportedly keen on bringing Dembele to Emirates stadium in the summer after the forward ran down his contract at former club Fulham. However, Dembele and agent Mamadi Fofana opted to join Brendan Rodgers’ side north of the border – a move that has already paid dividends with Dembele notching 12 goals in just 16 appearances for his new employers. Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, along with Bayern counterpart Carlo Ancelotti, though, are also believed to be monitoring the progress of the young star and could pose a significant threat to Arsenal’s supposed chances of landing him. Speaking after Celtic’s thrilling draw with City on Tuesday, Hoops manager Rodgers was gushing in his praise for his young protege, before warning Dembele about a lack of regular game time if he were to leave Scotland for pastures news. The former Swansea and Liverpool boss said: “We’re fortunate to have him. He was coveted by a number of teams but his agent is a clever guy. “Does he go to a so-called better league and sit on the bench and not get so many games? Or does he come to a big club with an opportunity to develop and invest some time into his development, and then step up if that’s what he wants to do? “He really bullied the back four, but he’s more than that – he’s got a wonderful touch. You saw his agility for the third goal. He’s a huge talent.” 90min
