Mark Hughes: Stoke Can Get Positive Result At Manchester United

Pinned onto EntertainmentStoke City boss Mark Hughes has said that the Potters‘ winless streak could continue when they face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday in the English Premier League, Complete Sports Nigeria reports. Hughes’ side have lost four and drawn one of their last five games going into this weekend’s clash. Speaking in his press conference on Friday morning, the former Manchester United striker however pointed out that the Potters will be relying on their recent performance which has been encouraging. “We were encouraged by our last two performances. We didn’t win because we made mistakes but the performance levels were good,” Hughes told reporters. “We want the first win and we are sure it will come soon, although that will be difficult this weekend. “We have a box that we would like to tick that we haven’t been able to tick yet – getting a positive result at Old Trafford.” “We have broken a few records in my time here and we have another opportunity to do that this weekend. It will be tough though.” Hughes reflected on his time with the Red Devils, while playing down the winning mentality of the current squad. “I won numerous trophies there. I always get a nice feeling going back in there,” he added. “I played in a winning team that had the mindset to win every game. I’m not sure whether the current group have that feeling yet.” He however posited that United will finish strongly this season. “They have addressed some of their failings from last year with some very big signings. You can see the club’s intent. “It is maybe a little bit of a transitional period, but you sense that there will be a marked improvement on where they finish.” And on recent scandals that have rocked English football: “If there is evidence that individuals have been involved in things it’s important that they are named.” “If that doesn’t happen then all of us will get dragged into it simply by generalization.” “Clearly there seems to be an issue and it needs resolving quickly.”
