Apply To Win a trip to ACCES 2018 music conference in Nairobi

Are you a music professional who believes your product or service has what it takes to make a difference in the African music industry?

  1. The Music In Africa Foundation is running a competition as part of its fifth birthday celebrations where one lucky winner will get to present their product or service at the ACCES music conference in Nairobi, Kenya, this November.

    The prize is worth €1 000 ($1 170) and will go towards the winner’s expenses to be at the conference, including airfare, accommodation, meals and ground transport to the ACCES venue and related activities.

    All music professionals (artists, composers, engineers, label owners, event organisers, music tech creators, service providers etc.) and music organisations operating in Africa are eligible to enter and the winner will get to present their product, service or idea in front of an audience comprising leading music professionals from more than 50 countries around the world.

    Preference will be given to applicants between the ages of 18 and 35, although anyone with an innovative product or service is welcome to apply.

    Here is what you need to do to enter the competition:

    • Create a professional profile on musicinafrica.net (direct registration link: musicinafrica.net/user/register).
    • Synch your SoundCloud and YouTube channels (if applicable).
    • Apply here by adding your personal and contact information, and telling us why you should be considered to present at ACCES 2018.

    About ACCES

    The Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases, or simply ACCES, is a pan-African event for music industry players to exchange ideas, discover new talent and create business linkages. ACCES is held in a different African city every year, attracting active music industry players from across the globe.

    ACCES 2018, which takes place at the National Theatre in Nairobi from 15 to 18 November, will offer a dynamic programme including training workshops, panel discussions, presentations, networking sessions, exhibitions, showcases, concerts and visits to key music industry hubs in the Kenyan capital. This year iconic Kenyan musician and activist Eric Wainaina has been confirmed as the keynote speaker.

    ACCES is organised by the Music In Africa Foundation is partnership with Goethe-Institut, Siemens Stiftung and Kenya’s Permanent Presidential Music Commission.

    COMPETITION RULES

    1. The competition runs from 26 July to 31 August at 12pm GMT.
    2. The winner will be notified by 10 September.
    3. You can only enter the competition once, multiple entries will be disqualified.
    4. To be eligible you have to answer all questions required and complete the application form. Incomplete entries will be disqualified.
    5. A winner constitutes one individual from an organisation. The winner will receive no more than one admission ticket/accreditation to the event.
    6. Prizes are not transferable and are not negotiable.
    7. No prize shall be exchangeable for money.
    8. No employee or board member of the Music In Africa Foundation, members of their immediate family or employees of partner organisations may enter.
    9. If a winner is unable to take up a prize for any reason, or if the Music In Africa Foundation has not been able, after making reasonable efforts, to make contact with the winner, the Music In Africa Foundation reserves the right to award that prize (without notice to the first winner chosen) to an alternative winner, in which case the first winner chosen shall not be eligible for any share of the prize whatsoever. The Music In Africa Foundation shall not have any liability in such eventuality.
    10. Automated entries, bulk entries or third party entries will be disqualified.
    11. Any violation or attempt to violate any of the above rules will result in the immediate disqualification of the transgressor.
