Project Enable Fellowship 2019 – Opportunities for Youth

Project Enable is an initiative with the aim of promoting the empowerment and social inclusion of persons with disabilities in Africa. Specifically, the goal of this project is to create a disability-friendly entrepreneurship hub, equipped with accessible technology to directly empower 20 young persons with disabilities with technology-based skills within 12months. This entrepreneurial hub is estimated to provide access to inclusive-technology resources to over 1000 people with disabilities within 3years. This project will provide capacity development for young disabled people in skill areas such as web design, application development, programming, video/photo editing and graphic design. Participants will also be equipped with entrepreneurial, leadership, community engagement and advocacy skills towards empowering them to sustainably start and run their enterprises, and become leaders within their communities.

Selection Process

The fellowship program is conducted as a merit-based open application. After the deadline, all eligible application will be reviewed by a selection panel. Selected semi-finalist will be interviewed in the last week of November. Selected fellows will be notified by November 24 and officially announced on November 30.

Eligibility

• Applicants will not be discriminated against based on their gender, socio-economic status or religion. The fellowship program is opened to all young persons with disabilities who meet the following criteria:
  1. Are between the ages of 18 and 35;
  2. Living with a detectable disability;
  3. Have a basic computer appreciation knowledge
  4. Live within the Lagos metropolis
  5. Physically available to participate in the fellowship activities from December 2018 to May 2019.
  6. Are you passionate about gaining digital skills?
  7. Are you willing to participate in an internship program as part of the fellowship activities?

• November 24: Selected Fellows are notified
